Generalized numerical ranges of matrix polynomials
In this paper, we introduce the notions of C-numerical range and C-spectrum of matrix polynomials. Some algebraic and geometrical properties are investigated. We also study the relationship between the C-numerical range of a matrix polynomial and the joint C-numerical range of its coefficients.
متن کاملA Completeness Property of Wilke's Tree Algebras
Wilke’s tree algebra formalism for characterizing families of tree languages is based on six operations involving letters, binary trees and binary contexts. In this paper a completeness property of these operations is studied. It is claimed that all functions involving letters, binary trees and binary contexts which preserve all syntactic tree algebra congruence relations of tree languages are ...
متن کاملDeterminants and permanents of Hessenberg matrices and generalized Lucas polynomials
In this paper, we give some determinantal and permanental representations of generalized Lucas polynomials, which are a general form of generalized bivariate Lucas p-polynomials, ordinary Lucas and Perrin sequences etc., by using various Hessenberg matrices. In addition, we show that determinant and permanent of these Hessenberg matrices can be obtained by using combinations. Then we show, the ...
متن کاملCompleteness in Generalized Ultrametric Spaces
Γ-ultrametric spaces are spaces which satisfy all the axioms of an ultrametric space except that the distance function takes values in a complete lattice Γ instead of R≥0. Γ-ultrametric spaces have been extensively studied as a way to weaken the notion of an ultrametric space while still providing enough structure to be useful (see for example [17], [18], [8]). The many uses of Γ-ultrametric sp...
متن کاملSoundness and Completeness versus Lifting Property 1
We give new formulations of the property of soundness and completeness of a resolution system and of the lifting lemma, and we discuss their relationship. The discussion points out why certain resolution systems are not complete, and that there is a simple method for showing that a resolution system is \absolutely incomplete" { that there is no notion of program completion and no logic which co...
